Since implementing
the positive label program, the school reports a 16-percent decrease in
name calling and negative labeling as well as a 24-percent increase of
students using positive words and attempting to get along better with
each other.
"Through
the activities associated with this program I have noticed that my students
show more empathy toward each other as well as try to treat each other
more kindly. It is amazing how many times I now compliment them on their
kindness. They in turn feel proud of themselves, giving the whole classroom
a positive feel," said teacher Susan Reissing.
