Several teams

were off last week, while other teams had big region battles to play.

The results were fairly successful for a few of the local teams, including

Landmark Christian and Sandy Creek.

The Sandy Creek

Patriots (6-2) traveled to College Park to take on Woodward Academy. Down

21-0, the Patriots rallied to win 28-21 in overtime. The Patriots got

touchdowns from Phillip Hyde, Will Judson, who caught a touchdown pass

from Ben McKinnon, and Calvin Johnson, who caught two touchdown passes

from Dusty Bennett, one in regulation and one in overtime to give the

Patriots the huge region win. Jeffrey Robinson made a big play for Sandy

Creek on special teams by blocking a punt, which set up the tying touchdown.

Sandy Creek

is now 6-1 in the region with two games to go. They will host Pebblebrook

(5-3, 5-2 region) on Friday before traveling to Newnan to take on Northgate

in the final week of the season. Sandy Creek has won three games in a

row. Pebblebrook lost to Douglas County 35-21 on Friday but has been able

to score points all season long. They are averaging 21.4 points per game.

Landmark Christian

remained undefeated by defeating Bowdon 28-6 on Friday. The War Eagles

got four touchdowns and over three hundred yards passing from quarterback

Alex Mortensen. Mortnesen connected with Eric Worrell twice, and Sean

Hill and Nick Taussig once a piece. Landmark Christian (8-0) finsihes

the season with two hom games. They will host Our Lady of Mercy (2-7)

on Friday before hosting Mt. Zion, Carroll the following Friday.

Mercy lost to Heard County 34-14 on Friday. The Bobcats got 123 yards

rushing and two touchdowns from Sam Etuk and got solid defensive performances

from Quentin Jones nine solo tackles and eight assists and Matt Gill,

who had 12 solo tackles and one tackle for a loss. Coach Alan Gordon felt

his team tackled better this week and hopes they bring similar intensity

to Friday's game against Landmark.

McIntosh (1-9)

ended their season with a 37-13 loss to Lovejoy on Saturday. The Chiefs

were down 21-0 at on point but got touchdowns from Nick Achor and Michael

Condon, who caught a touchdown pass from Chip Jett. McIntosh made some

early mistakes that Lovejoy capitalized on but the Chiefs continued to

play hard.

This week's

game have lots of promise and wil figure prominently in region and playoff

standing.
