Representatives from the legendary
Tuskeegee Airmen will be on hand to share their history. Brown Field is
located at 3955 Aviation Circle, off of Fulton Industrial Boulevard north
of I-20. Admission is free.
Guests will be able to view
aircraft up close on one closed runway. Visitors will see twin-engine
turboprop and jet aircraft, as well as fire trucks and the Fulton County
Police Department helicopter. Staff will provide information about a variety
of county services.
Named in part for former County
commissioner Charlie Brown, who was instrumental in acquiring the site
in the late 1940's, the 900-acre airport generates fees by serving as
a base for several government agencies and corporate flight operations.
It is one of the largest general aviation airports in the region, accommodating
aircraft of visiting celebrities and private individuals.
