The local volleyball

teams faced off against some of the top programs in the state last week

and have to be encouraged with some of the results.

faced Decatur High School and 18th-ranked Marietta High School last Tuesday.

The Lady Panthers lost the first game to Decatur, 15-8, but won the following

two games 15-13 and 15-11. In their match against Marietta, Starr's Mill

fell in the first game 15-11 but won the second game 17-15. Marietta's

front line dominated the third game and helped the team easily defeat

Starr's Mill 15-4.

from the service line. Rutland had four aces, while MacBean and junior

hosted 16th-ranked Pope and 4th-ranked Landmark Christian School yesterday

after the paper went to press.

Thursday. The Lady Chiefs defeated Landmark, 15-12 and 15-11 and beat

St. Pius, 15-5, 15-11 but lost to Lassiter 17-15. In their match against

Wedemeyer and Neely Thompson.
