Schwan's President
and Chief Executive Officer Lenny Pippin, an NFL alumnus, said the sponsorship
is a natural extension of the company's goal of providing memorable educational
opportunities for young people. Pippin addressed the NFL coaches' awards
assembly and presented the Schwan's Schools of Excellence awards during
closing ceremonies Friday.
"My involvement
in National Forensics League activities made a tremendous impact on my
ability to lead one of the world's foremost frozen food companies,"
Pippin noted. Other notable NFL alumni include Supreme Court Justice Steven
Breyer, talk-show host Oprah Winfrey, former U.S. presidents Lyndon Johnson
and Richard Nixon, former Vice President Hubert Humphrey, former Attorney
General Janet Reno, actor Don Ameche, entertainer Bette Midler and television
news reporter Jane Pauley.
