"I was
so excited and honored to come away with the third place award. I was
very surprised to learn that I had placed," said Allen.
In addition
to being nominated for teacher of the year, Allen was also elected to
serve as chair-elect of elementary physical education for the state and
will automatically become chairman next year. Her duties will include
planning the association's annual conventions, working with the teacher
of the year committee and keeping up with state mandated changes in elementary
physical education.
"I wanted
to run for this office because I wanted to be more involved in what is
going on in the state regarding PE. I also want to help keep my fellow
teachers in the county abreast of changes that might be on the horizon,"
she says.
Allen has taught
physical education at Kedron since 1999.
