Making statements that we do
not have an air pollution problem will only allow the problem to get worse,
especially as we go into the summer months. Such misleading statements
do not, and will not, make "the problem" go away. To rectify
any problem, the first step is to recognize that there is a problem.
What's next? Will our county
commissioners want us to believe that we don't have a traffic problem?
That would certainly sound good, but I don't believe that the traffic
congestion we see everyday would get any better as a result.
Truthfulness and trustworthiness
should be the foremost guiding principles for any governmental body elected
to represent the residents for which they serve. It's difficult to understand
their motive, but such statements make it difficult to believe that our
current commission has the best interests of Fayette County residents
in mind.
Mislead us once, shame on the
county commission. Mislead us twice, shame on the residents of Fayette
County.
