Volunteers
are also needed to help with the event. Anyone interested in donating
their time or services can contact planning committee chairperson Barnetta
Sanford at [email protected] by April 18 as well.
Community Day
is open to all parents and citizens. According to Warthen, who also teaches
at the school, the sole objective of event is to bring North Fayette Elementary
and the community together for the purpose of fostering a relationship
that will nurture the school's students. By bringing the community onto
the school's campus, school officials hope to open doors for future volunteers
to become involved in the education and development of its students.
"This
type of event will allow us to identify resources that both the school
and community can ultimately benefit from. Our guests will include businesses,
churches, city officials, citizens and all who are vital to the growth
and development of Fayette County," said school principal Louis Robinson.
Although this
will mark the first year that North Fayette has hosted a community celebration,
the school hopes to make it an annual event.
