If Aust is
chosen for the 2002 program, she will be the second student from the Fayette
County School System to be named a Presidential Scholar. Last year, Chad
M. Troop of Starr's Mill High School became the school system's first
scholar.
Scholars are
invited to Washington, D.C. for several days in June to receive the Presidential
Scholars medallion at a recognition ceremony and to participate in activities
with their elected representatives, educators and others in public life.
Aust is the
daughter of Tomie R. and Dr. Catherine C. Aust of Fayetteville.
