Fayetteville is moving closer

toward completion of its municipal amphitheater, as a landscaping plan

is now under review by the Planning and Zoning Commission.

The arena, which will be located

at the edge of the Village multi-use development and directly adjacent

to Fayette County High School, is tentatively scheduled to be completed

An official ground-breaking will likely be held in February, althoug work

on the project has already begun, she added.

The amphitheater is being financed

will also fund other downtown improvements. The amphitheater's estimated

cost has been placed at $1.5 million.

Construction should be fairly

smooth, Price said, in part because there is relatively little to construct

it is an open-air facility with little more than a stage and mostly lawn

seats.
