Fairburn's
Planning Commission wants some help.
During Monday's
City Council meeting, planning commissioner Adolph Snell asked the council
for staff to help the commission sort through the many requests it gets.
"The growth
here is exponential and we need some staff to handle the growth efficiently.
We also need a building inspector," he said.
Snell said
he understood that City Administrator Tony Cox is considering additional
staffing in the first quarter of 2002 and asked the council to seriously
consider his request.
After the meeting,
Cox said he is working on a five-year staffing study to determine the
town's future needs and said he also is looking at the issue of building
inspectors. Currently, the town hires contractors for inspections.
Fairburn's
growth has exploded in recent years and does not show any sign of slowing
down. During Monday's meeting, the town saw requests from developers for
another 400 homes in the city. (See related story.)
