A holiday tradition
for many families, this walking adventure for all ages celebrates 10 years
of providing the only chance to walk through the dazzling array of Christmas
scenes. This seven-mile outdoor light show consists of more than three
million lights forming many spectacular, larger-than-life lighted displays,
including a giant toy soldier, glittering snowflakes, and a breathtaking
holiday wreath.
Some scenes
stretch longer than a quarter mile, each has its own sound system, and
many include animation.
The honorary
chairmen of the walk are Santa and Mrs. Claus, who invite you to join
one of three walking groups and enjoy the beauty of the show and complimentary
hot chocolate and cookies at the beach pavilion upon route completion.
You can either choose to walk the entire seven-mile route or walk 5 miles
and return on the bus.
Tickets are
$12 per adult and $6 per child (6-12); you can also purchase night walk
glow-in-the-dark sweatshirts and luminary dedication candles, as well
as other prizes for tax-deductible donations. For information phone the
March of Dimes in Columbus at (706) 660-0160 or in Lagrange at (706) 845-0708.
