The official
cause of the fire has been determined as careless smoking in close proximity
of a home oxygen cylinder, Nelms added.
Harris' home,
on Alcona Drive in the Four Seasons Manufactured Housing Community, was
completely destroyed. None of the nearby residences were damaged by the
flames, however.
The call came
in to the Fayette Emergency-911 Center at 3:07 p.m.; units were on the
scene within seven minutes, Nelms said.
The last fire
fatality in Fayette County was recorded in 1998.
