All of this
week's football games hold some significance, but none as much as the
game between East Coweta and Lovejoy. Both teams are in the same sub-region
and are undefeated going ino this match. They are battling for the top
spot in the sub-region and this will be an intense game. The two teams
are fairly similar with balanced offenses and great defenses. The team
that makes the fewest mistakes should emerge victorious and finish the
season with the top spot in the sub-region.
Starr's Mill
(3-2) faced Lovejoy last week and lost 19-18. The Panthers got a little
banged up but should be ready to play the Stockbridge Tigers (0-4) tonight.
Coach earwood feels the offense under quarterback Patrick Mullinix is
getting better every week. Tonight will be a true test for the offense,
as they should be able to put up some numbers on the Tigers.
McIntosh (0-4)
travels to Twelve Oaks Stadium tonight to take on Riverdale (4-1). The
Chiefs offense got going last week in a 34-22 loss to Newnan, but the
defense still needs to improve and stop giving up large plays to their
opponents. Nick Achor led the Chiefs in rushing last week with 120 yards.
If he can run as well this week, McIntosh has a chance to get the rest
of the offense involved.
Fayette County
(2-3) plays a Saturday game against Jonesboro (3-2) at Tara Stadium. The
Tigers faced Henry County last week in their homecoming game and won 27-14.
They have a solid offense and should match up very well against the Cardinals.
Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
Sandy Creek
(1-3) got their first win of the season last week in their homecoming
game as they defeated Jones County, 24-14. Kelvin German ran for 274 yards
and is looking to carry his momentum over to this week. The Patriots have
a terrific defense and have faced all ranked opponents so far this season.
If they play Heritage as tough as they have played everybody else this
season, they should get their second win of the season tonight.
Landmark Christian
(4-1) travels to Jefferson (3-2) tonight. The War Eagles have been performing
well on both sides of the ball this season, but their offensive production
has been slowed in recent weeks. Landmark would like to get it going again
tonight, but sometimes the best offense is a great defense.
