The McIntosh

Lady Chiefs varsity softball team has a 2-2 record so far this season.

The team, coached by Stacey Smith, beat Newnan and Riverdale and lost

to Starr's Mill and Fayette County.

Sophomore Jenna

Gilbert pitched a no hitter against Newnan, striking out nine batters

with no walks in an 11-0 win while sophomore Lily Yarbrough pitched against

Riverdale, striking out 18 Lady Raiders and allowing only 4 hits in McIntosh's

9-1 win. Megan Mulcahy was the catcher in both games. Mulcahy contributed

strong fielding, catching and hitting in both of McIntosh's wins.

The Lady Chief's

also played in the Sandy Creek Tournament at McCurry Park and placed second

in the Silver Division. The Lady Chiefs won three games: 8-7 against Northside,

pitched by Yarbrough; 3-0 against Chattahochee, with Mulcahy on the mound

and a 3-1 win over Eagles Landing, pitched by Gilbert. Mulcahy and Renae

Clarke hit homeruns in the game against Sandy Creek and Kristy Cline made

an unassisted double play in the Northside game. Strong hitting by Kim

Jenkins, Cati Cochran, Alison Zelinski, Kristy Cline, Clarke, Gilbert,

Kim Bevillard, Yarbrough and Mulcahy put runs on the scoreboard.

Standouts for

the tournament were Sophomore Jordan Wiegele as the designated hitter,

who had six hits and drove in three runs, relief catcher, Jessi Brown,

who drove in a run and Mulcahy in her dual role as pitcher and catcher.

The Lady Chief's

JV Team has a 3-1 record with wins over Starr's Mill, Newnan, and Riverdale.

Yarbrough pitched to Jessi Brown in all four games.

Both Lady Chief

Teams are looking forward to a winning season. The varsity squad was scheduled

to face North Clayton yesterday. McIntosh will play at Lovejoy next Wednesday

at 6 p.m. and will host Starr's Mill at 6 p.m on Thursday.
