"Atlanta
is a major connecting hub within the global transportation network for
both passengers and cargo. In terms of the number of actual travelers
transported, Hartsfield currently remains the world's leader," said
aviation general manager Ben DeCosta. "Nearly 80 percent of the United
States' population is within a two-hour flight and half the world is just
a day away, " he added.
In airports'
annual pursuits of coveted "world's busiest" titles, the Airports
Council International ranks airports in three categories flight
operations, passenger volume and cargo tonnage.
