The first part
of the Summer Concert Series at the Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater certainly
had its share of big names and surprises, including appearances by Smokey
Robinson, The Smothers Brothers and Paul Anka, but the second part promises
a rocking good time with some legendary acts.
The second
part of the concert series begins Friday and Saturday, July 27 and 28,
when Chuck Berry takes the stage. Berry had an enormous amount of influence
at the dawn of rock 'n' roll, inspiring bands like The Beatles and The
Rolling Stones with songs like "Johnny B. Goode," "School
Day," and "Maybellene."
The nights
of Friday and Saturday, Aug. 10 and 11, will be perfect date nights as
Bobby Vinton comes to Peachtree City. Vinton is known for his romantic
songs that have become timeless classics, including hits like "Blue
Velvet," "Roses Are Red," and "Mr. Lovely."
The concert
series then shifts into classic rock mode for the next two shows. The
Marshall Tucker Band comes to town Friday and Saturday, Aug. 24 and 25.
The band, based out of South Carolina, plays a blend of rock 'n' roll,
blues and country that has helped define what many people know as country
music. Their hits include the songs "Can't You See," "Fire
on the Mountain" and "Desert Skies."
Appearing Friday
and Saturday, Sept. 7 and 8, America. The singing and song-writing team
of Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell are known mainly for their most famous
hit, "A Horse With No Name," but have also won a Grammy Award
for Best New Artists, and have written such classic tunes as "Tin
Man," "Ventura Highway" and "You Can Do Magic."
Of course,
the people at The Fred have saved the best for last. Drum roll, please.
Friday and Saturday, Sept. 28 and 29, the bearers of "Good Vibrations,"
The Beach Boys, a group with more top 40 hits over the last four decades
than maybe anyone.
There are the
surfing songs "Surfin' USA," "Surfer Girl," and "Surfin'
Safari" and songs like "Help Me Rhonda," "Wouldn't
It Be Nice" and "I Get Around."
All shows start
at 8 p.m. Tickets for the second part of the concert series are currently
