The soccer

playoffs begin tonight and McIntosh and Starr's Mill's boys and girls

are both back on the road to repeat as state champions, except this year

the two schools stand in each other's way. It is also important not to

discount the other teams from Region 4-AAAAA who will present obstacles

as well.

Newnan's Lady

Cougars will open up the region playoffs tonight against Jonesboro at

Tara Stadium. The Lady Cougars won their last two games 9-0 against Lovejoy

and 6-2 against McEachern and they are hungry. A key player for Newnan

is lanie Scott who scored nine of her team's 15 goals in the last two

games. If Newnan wins, they will be the first team in Coweta County history

to head to the state playoffs. The Newnan boys will face Starr's Mill's

boys at Starr's Mill at 8 p.m.

The Fayette

County girls outscored their last two opponents 19-0. They defeated Riverdale

15-0 in 32 minutes, getting goals from eight different players. On Tuesday

night in the regular season finale, the Lady Tigers blanked Stockbridge,

4-0. They outshot Stockbridge 38-2 and got goals from Rachel Frazier,

Amy Eller and Christine Wix. Fayette County will host Stockbridge again

tonight at 6 p.m.

Sandy Creek's

girls have made the state tournament. The Lady Patriots defeated Rockdale

County 4-1 on Tuesday night, getting two goals from megan rast, and one

goal a piece from Jenna Thomason and Julie Otwell. Sandy Creek will play

in the region tournament on Tuesday against Salem High School at 5:30

p.m. The game will be played at Reid Stadium. To get there from Sandy

Creek, take Hwy. 74 to I-85 North. Take I-285 East to I-20 East and then

exit at Exit 82. Turn left and go to the third stoplight. Turn left on

to American legion Road and then turn left on to Pine Log Road. The stadium

is on the right.

The McIntosh

girls defeated North Gwinnett, 8-0 on Tuesday night. It was their senior

night and the seniors were able to celebrate another undefeated season

in region play. The Lady Chiefs will host Henry County at 5:30 p.m. tonight.

McIntosh's boys also enter the region tournament as the number one seed

in the west. The Chiefs will host Henry County's boys team after the girls

game. McIntosh's games will be at the Baseball/Soccer Complex on Ga. Hwy.

74 in Peachtree City.

Starr's Mill's

boys and girls are the number one seeded teams from the east and both

teams are undefeated in their region play as well. The girls are scheduled

to host East Coweta at 6 p.m., while the boys will host Newnan at 8 p.m.
