The McIntosh

Classic lived up to it's name, despite the Chiefs game with Warner Robins

being postponed due to rain. Both of McIntosh's other two games went to

overtime and both ended with the Chiefs as the winner.

McIntosh faced

Dobyns-Bennett and won 2-1. Matt Clements scored the first goal for the

Chiefs off an assist from Omar Jarun. The goal tied the game at one goal

a piece and forced an overtime. In the overtime period, Jarun scored a

goal from an assit by Nick Corley. In their game against Vestavia Hills,

Ala., McIntosh blew a 4- 1 lead and had to get a goal in overtime to secure

the victory.

McIntosh will

get to face Warner Robins on Saturday, April 14 i Peachtree City. It too

will be a classic match. Warner Robins defeated Vestavia Hills, 5-0 and

beat Dobyns-Bennett, 3-1.

The Lady Chiefs

traveled to Walton High School last week to squeeze in one more game before

spring break. They won, 2-0, and will now get a chance to rest before

hosting the adidas Challenge Cup/Women's Soccer Showcase, April 10-14.

The tournament will feature McIntosh, Parkview and Starr's Mill as well

as Huntsville, Ala., Davis Senior, Calif., Arapahoe, Colo., Catholic Memorial,

Wis., and Madison West, Wis. The teams had a combined record of 156-13-8

in the 2000 season and six of the eight teams won state championships

last year.

Fayette County's

girls hosted Newnan on the Thursday before spring break and won, 4-1.

The win gave the Lady Tigers a 3-1 record in sub-region play and puts

them in second place behind McIntosh. The Lady Tigers got goals from Sarah

Oxford, Lena Watford, Britini Emerson and Christine Wix in the win. They

will return to the field on April 10 to take on East Coweta at East Coweta.
