Several months
ago, the congregation retained the services of CDH Partners, Inc., of
Marietta, an architectural firm that has been involved in projects such
as The Church of the Apostles in Atlanta, the renovation of St. Philip's
Cathedral and Holy Trinity Catholic church in Peachtree City. The plans
to be revealed on Easter will include drawings of the initial sanctuary,
plans for expansion of that building, and a full site plan for the church's
11.5 acres on Ga. Hwy. 34, that will chart the church's course for the
foreseeable future.
"We believe
that the property we have will serve us well," said Epps. "It
is not our intention to become a mega-church, although we believe that
we will grow well beyond our current membership. In addition to establishing
a significant presence in Fayette and Coweta counties, we intend to assist
in the planting of 20 new mission churches in Georgia in the years ahead.
We have a vision for this part of the state as well as for our local area."
The church
also has sponsored four missions to Africa and has planned an additional
trip to Brazil this summer.
Currently,
Christ the King meets each Sunday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Carmichael-Hemperley
on Ga. Hwy. 74 in Peachtree City.
