The Board will
work to help set the direction for the new Department of Motor Vehicle
Safety which will house the various responsibilities of vehicle registration,
issuance of drivers licenses and permits, and enforcement of safety laws,
all of which are now the responsibility of different departments. The
consolidation will improve both the consistency of the laws and the enforcement
of regulations monitoring the safety of vehicles on Georgia's roads.
