Peachtree City's Public Improvement

Program, budgeted at $3.18 million for the coming fiscal year, makes room

for plenty of renovation projects.

With the Police Department scheduled to move out from the bottom floor

of City Hall, $234,000 has been set aside to renovate City Hall's upper

and lower levels.

The Developmental Services Department will be relocated to the downstairs

offices and an elevator will be added to City Hall. Those funds also cover

the renovation of the public works administrative facility.

Neely Fire Station has also been earmarked $163,000 for renovation costs.

The office and crew areas will be renovated and a communications tower

will be built there.

The Gathering Place, meanwhile, will expand by 1,200 square feet in a

$249,000 project planned for this year. Another leisure services component,

the planned multi-use rink for the Kedron Village area, will have a cover

built and lighting erected so it can be used after dark.

Also, $200,000 has been budgeted for construction improvements to the

amphitheater. Included in that cost is the addition of bathrooms and a

sound platform.

Vehicle costs for public safety departments also are included in the PIP.

The Police Department plans to continue leasing 33 vehicles so it can

continue its take-home policy, which will cost $261,319. Also, the Fire

and Rescue Department is getting a new ambulance with an estimated cost

of $96,000.

Also, $12,000 has been set aside for demolition of the old Leach Fire

Station and instillation of a monument in the area to honor Peachtree

City's volunteer firefighters.

More than $400,000 has been budgeted for the year's street resurfacing

program, which will address 18 different streets. The costliest project

among those is Braelinn Road, at $106,700, followed by Cameron Trail,

at $61,735. An additional $118,000 was factored in for street repairs

and maintenance.

The cart path resurfacing program has been allocated $74,000 for 37 different

projects.
