Tony
Durflinger of McDonough, recorded his first ever Late
Model win Saturday night in the Alan Vigil Southlake Ford
50 at Senoia Speedway.
Durflinger
took the lead with 24 laps remaining after a wreck that
claimed eight cars shortly following the completion of
the first lap. Budweiser Pole Award winner Chad Caldwell
and the driver of the 54 car, Gabriel Corbitt, got loose
between turns one and two and collected each other, along
with eight other drivers.
"We
knew we had a top five car," said Durflinger, who
drives a Lefthander/Chevrolet Monte Carlo sponsored by
Ricky Sanders Racing/Oval Racing.com/Marks Paint &
Body. "After the accident we really knew we had a
top five car. We're going to take a win however we can
get it, but I still think we would have been a contender
at the end of this race what ever had happened."
Finishing
in second was McDonough's John Beach with Fayetteville's
Shawn Cieutat in third. Senoia's Chad Caldwell returned
to the track after extensive repair to finish fourth.
Sharpsburg's Mike Bristol returned to competition after a
long leave of absence from Senoia Speedway to finish
fifth.
Also unable
to finish the race after being collected in the scuffle
were Sonny Pollard, Gabriel Corbitt, Scott Griffin, Scott
Ellis, Marc Mitchell, B. J. Holley and Charlie Bagwell.
Due to the lengthy caution needed to clean up the mangled
cars, track officials cut the race to 25 laps.
Brooks'
Andy Cash passed Senoia's Jon Bell midway through the
Sportsman division race for the win, giving Cash his
third win in a row. Darin Cronan finished second after
Bell's car was demolished on the front straightaway,
leaving him to finish third. Rounding out the field was
Larry Pierce in the 32 car.
Due to
three wins in a row, a bounty has been placed on Andy
Cash by the Senoia Speedway management. Anyone who can
break his winning streak will be able to claim the bounty
in Saturday night's race.
Locust
Grove's Robby Gober in the Sports Car Service
Ltd./Pro-Blend/Dover Cylinder Head Inc. Chevy, continues
to show why he is the dominant one at Senoia Speedway in
the Street Stock Division. Gober led from the drop of the
green flag to the checkered for his fourth win of the
season. Finishing second was last week's winner Jason
Turner of Griffin, who held off the third place car of
Stan Barge in his first race of the 2000 season.
Finishing
fourth in his highest finish of the season was Bubba
Bales, with Newnan's Jim Van Riper returning to Senoia
Speedway to finish fifth after an extensive absence.
A bounty on
Jonesboro's Cary Hamilton was enough to bring four or
five new competitors to the track Saturday night in the
Mini Stock Feature at Senoia Speedway. However, nobody
could withstand the heat put on by Hamilton as he took
the lead from Troy French with nine laps remaining for
his fourth consecutive win. French finished second ahead
of Mike Chambers, who had his own battle going on with
newcomer Jimmy Self. Chambers finished third with Self in
fourth. Dan Oxenford took fifth, rounding off the top
five.
The bounty
placed by Senoia Speedway management on Cary Hamilton
still exists and will be given to the driver who can
upset Hamilton's winning streak in Saturday night's race.
Peachtree
City's Reed Sorenson led from start to finish for his
second win of the season in the Conkles Pro/Semi-Pro
Masters Division at Senoia Speedway. Sorenson's win did
not go without competition as Lovejoy's Doug Stevens, who
also competed in the Allison Legacy Feature, filled
Sorenson's mirror for the last half of the race.
Sorenson
crossed the finish line with only half a car length to
spare. Finishing third was Shane Upchurch with Jason
Tidwell beating out David Reagan at the line for fourth.
Senoia's
Bubba Pollard led every lap from his pole starting
position for his second win in as many weeks at Senoia
Speedway Saturday night. This brings Pollard to six wins
this season in the Conkles Legends Young Lyons/Chargers
Divisions. The battle for second was decided with seven
laps to go as the 01 car, driven by Andy James, edged out
a second place finish over Senoia's Scott Tinsley, who
finished third by less than a car length at the finish
line. Fourth and fifth place went to Matt McCullough and
Cindy Anderson.
Senoia
Speedway races each and every Saturday night through
November. Pit gate opens at 4 p.m., grandstand opens at 5
p.m. with racing beginning at 7 p.m. For information on
