Selection
is based on the accomplishments of those swimmers in the
pool, classroom and community. The winners of the awards
receive a plaque and their names are added to a master
plaque displayed at the home pool of the Southside Seals,
sponsoring organization.
The Fayette
County Swimming Hall Of Fame recognizes lifetime
achievement by swimmers and coaches as residents of
Fayette County or as members of a Fayette County based
team. Members of the hall receive a award plaque and are
listed on a plaque displayed at the home pool of the
Southside Seals. No more than four individuals can be
elected to the hall in any year.
Awards are
selected by a five-person committee consisting of
representatives of the Southside Seals, local USS,
recreation, and High School teams. The winners will be
notified in late June with the awards to be presented in
early July.
Swimming is
a "life sport" that is enjoyed by over two
million people of all ages and abilities.
