The
candidates for two City Council posts in the upcoming
Peachtree City election are making their rounds in a
number of public forums scheduled for September and
October.
A total of
five candidates qualified two weeks ago for the election.
Chuck Lehman, Bruce Perlman and Dan Tennant are vying for
the Post 2 seat to be vacated by Jim Pace, who is not
running again. Incumbent Annie McMenamin faces Melvin
Ewing in Post 1.
All of
those candidates appeared early Monday morning at the
weekly Peachtree City Kiwanis Club breakfast, where they
had a few moments to speak about the issues. An
appearance at the Fayette County Republican Women meeting
was scheduled for Tuesday night, but with candidates from
the city of Fayetteville as well and little time for
anything beyond a brief introduction.
A more
substantial public debate will be held at the "Meet
the Candidates Night" sponsored by the Peachtree
City Rotary Club. It will be held Tuesday, Oct. 12, 7-9
p.m. at the Wyndham Conference Center.
Moderated
include a three-person panel of Rotarians who will submit
prepared questions to get the evening started, after
which audience questions will be taken. Only
issue-related questions will be accepted.
