Danny Lamar Shelton, 78, of Hampton, Georgia went on to his heavenly home on Monday, December 27, 2021 after a courageous battle with complications from the Covid booster.
Danny was born on Friday, March 19, 1943, to James William Charles and Alice Winifred Shelton (Thackerson) in Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated from Walter F. George High School in 1961 where he excelled in football.
Danny is preceded in death by his parents, and his daughter, Baby Angel Shelton. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of over 60 years, Annette Shelton; his daughters, Wendy Southers (Mark) and Dana Ruff (Kevin). He was a proud Papa to three grandchildren, Camryn Ruff, Carter Ruff, and Shelby Southers. He is also survived by his brothers, Bud, Benny (Karen), and Phillip (Jean) Shelton; and his sisters, Peggy Shaver (Don) and Becky Combee (Jim); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Danny was an amazing, kind man who adored his wife, daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, siblings, family, friends, and his little white dog, Fancy. He was the ultimate storyteller and loved golfing, fishing, antique cars, and helping other people with a true servant’s heart.
He was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves, the Georgia Bulldogs, NASCAR, and any team his grandson, Carter, played on. Danny spent over 50 years working in service and for Ford Dealerships. He retired from Allan Vigil Ford (Carolyn Ford) in Fayetteville, Georgia where he was known for his extensive knowledge of cars and his fair and honest treatment of customers.
A funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, January 6, 2022, at 2:00 PM, in the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Fayetteville. Visitation will occur prior to the service at Mowell Funeral Home from 1:00 to 2:00 PM the same day.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Shriners Hospitals for Children in Danny Shelton’s honor.
