Edgefield will have Watch Night service
Edgefield Baptist Church’s Celebration of Christ will continue on Saturday, Dec. 31, at 10 p.m. when the Watch Night service will be held with the theme, “The Best is Yet to Come.” Edgefield is on Church Street in downtown Fayetteville.
New Year’s Eve Masses planned at St. Mary’s
On New Years Eve at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Coweta County, a Vigil Mass will be celebrated at 5 p.m. On New Year’s Day, Masses will be celebrated at 9 a.m. and at noon. A nursery is available at both Sunday Masses and ASL interpretation is available at the noon Mass. The church is at 3 Village Road, near the intersection of Ga. St. Andrew’s plans Lessons and Carols
On Sunday, Jan. 1, St. Andrew’s in the Pines Episcopal Church will have a service of Lessons and Carols at 10 a.m. St. Andrew’s is at 316 N. Peachtree Parkway, Peachtree City.
Basics of Christian faith explored
The Rev. Mark Westmoreland, pastor of Fayetteville First United Methodist Church, will lead a study of the basics of the Christian faith beginning Wednesday, Jan. 4, and continuing for 16 weeks. The study is for New Christians, as well as seasoned believers, who have questions about the basics of the Christian faith. The class will end March 28. Cost of materials is $10. Children’s Epiphany pageant planned

Youth worship to feature Christian music
Hopewell UMC will host a Youth Worship Evening on Jan. 8, at 6 p.m. Kyle O’Neal and his band (from The United Methodist Church at The Well in Cartersville) will lead in some contemporary Christian music to kick off the New Year. Youth are invited to bring their friends The event is free but a donation for “Stop Hunger Now” will be collected. Divorce Care starts in January at PTCUMC
DivorceCare is a weekly seminar and support group for people who are separated or divorced. It’s a place where they can hear valuable information about ways to heal from the hurt of divorce. The new session will begin on Jan. 11 and will meet from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. weekly on Wednesday evenings at Peachtree City United Methodist Church, 225 Robinson Rd. Sessions will be held in Room 300. CDM to host seminar
Christ Discipleship Ministries (CDM), 114 W. GriefShare starts Jan. 19 at PTCUMC
GriefShare, A 14-week series open to anyone in the community grieving the loss of a friend or loved one, will begin on Thursday, Jan. 19 from 6:30 – 8 p.m. in Room 308 at Peachtree City United Methodist Church, 225 Robinson Rd. The program is Christ-centered and uses a video, workbook, and open discussion format. A minimal fee covers the cost of the workbook; scholarships are available. Seniors head for Columbus Jan. 27
The S.A.G.E. group (Senior Adults Going Everywhere) at Fayetteville First United Methodist Church will travel to Columbus (Ga.) to visit The National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center at Patriot Park, view an IMAX movie, and have lunch at the Fife & Drum Restaurant on Friday, Jan. 27. The group will leave the church at 8 a.m. and return at 5 p.m. The cost is $15 and includes the museum. guided tour and IMAX movie, plus lunch at the Fife & Drum. Summit again offers free tutoring
The Family Resource Center at The Summit Presbyterian Church will once again offer free tutoring for elementary and high school students. Classes meet on Wednesdays, one from 4-5 p.m. and another from 5-6 p.m. Help is offered in math, reading, homework, science, and language arts. Tutors are supervised by certified teachers. Rainbow groups forming at Holy Trinity
Rainbows is a program that fosters emotional healing for children and teens who are grieving a loss due to a death, divorce, deployment, or other emotional trauma. Rainbow Groups are now forming and sessions will begin in January, 2012 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Peachtree City. Prayer group formed at Summit
A community prayer group is being formed at The Summit Family Resource Center, 1373 Ga. Highway 92 S. Fayetteville. The group will meet from 9:30-10:15 a.m. on Thursday mornings.
