COS will hold Advent service tonight
Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church will offer mid-week Advent services on Dec. 7 and Dec. 14, from 7-7:30 p.m. “Taking the Story of Christmas Home” is the theme. According to associate pastor Miriam Beecher, “Each worship service will have a multi-sensory creative touch.” Some of the traditions and practices to be explored are Christmas trees, wreaths, cards, lights and candy canes. The Shepherd’s Band and Logos Ringers will provide music. Christ Our Shepherd is on the corner of Ga. Highway 54 and Peachtree Parkway.
St. Paul Lutheran to hold Advent services
A Christmas mid-week Advent service at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Prachtree City is planned for tonight, Dec. 7, at 5 and 7 p.m. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. On Wednesday, Dec. 14. Advent worship will be combined with the Children’s Christmas Program at 7 p.m. No dinner will be served on the 14th. St. Paul is on Ardenlee Parkway in Peachtree City.
B’Nai Israel to present Chanukah story
Congregation B’nai Israel of Fayetteville will sponsor a book fair to celebrate Chanukah at Barnes and Noble, Ashley Park, Newnan on Saturday, Dec. 10 from 2 to 4 pm. Children from the synagogue will sing Chanukah songs. The Chanukah story and why we celebrate Chanukah will be told.
Holiday Bazaar is this weekend
The 1st Annual Holy Trinity Holiday Bazaar will be this Saturday and Sunday, Dec 10 and 11. Saturday hours are 9 a.m. -7 p.m. Sunday hours are 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the Catholic Heart Workcamp Mission trip. Grinch featured at PTCUMC this Sunday
A special presentation of “The Grinch Can’t Steal Christmas!” will be presented Sunday, Dec. 11, at Peachtree City United Methodist Church during the 11 a.m. worship service. Walk Through Bethlehem set for Dec. 11
Fayetteville First United Methodist Church will host its annual Walk Through Bethlehem this year on Sunday, Dec. 11, from 9:45-10:40 a..m. Visitors will meet the shepherds, talk with an innkeeper, and visit a shopkeeper while searching for Baby Jesus. Families will meet in the Youth Center at 9:45 a.m. to begin the journey. FFUMC is across the street from the old Fayette County Courthouse in downtown Fayetteville.
Birthday party for Jesus is this Sunday
The United Methodist Men of Peachtree City United Methodist Church will host a Birthday Party for Jesus Sunday afternoon, Dec. 11 at 2 p.m. at 400 Windgate Road in Peachtree City, the family ministry campus for PTCUMC. The party will be for children through fifth grade. Children will be treated to face painting, balloons, music, cake, cookies and ice cream. They also will meet a very special visitor from the North Pole. Those attending are asked to bring a new unwrapped gift for Toys for Tots. National Heights hosts memorial service
National Heights Baptist Church will host a special candlelight grief/memorial service called “Blue Christmas Service: Bringing Our Sadness to God” Sunday evening, Dec. 11, at 6:30 p.m. The service is to help those who have lost loved ones to reflect and remember. National Heights is on the corner of Ga. Highway 54 and Old Norton/Sandy Creek Road.
PTCUMC presents lessons and carols
The Peachtree City United Methodist Church Orchestra, Chancel Choir and the a cappella vocal ensemble Viva Voce will present a service of Christmas Lessons and Carols on Sunday, Dec. 11, at 225 Robinson Road in Peachtree City. The special celebration will feature traditional Christmas carols for congregational participation as well as seasonal music by Benjamin Britten, Rene Claussen, Michael W. Smith and Matthew Culloton. Also featured will be soprano soloist Caroline Poole. The program will be presented at the 9:30 a.m. Traditional Service. NHBC will present ‘Messiah’ Dec. 18
The National Heights Sanctuary Choir and Friends will present the Christmas portion of Handel’s “Messiah” on Sunday evening, Dec. 18 at 6 p.m. The community is welcomed to attend this free sacred music Christmas program. ‘Lessons and Carols’ featured at FFUMC
The adult and children’s choirs at Fayetteville First United Methodist Church will present a “Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols” on Sunday, Dec. 18, at 8:30 and 11 a.m. The service tells the story of the fall of humanity, the promise of a messiah, and the birth of jesus through music and readings from the scriptures. The FFUMC orchestra will accompany the choir on several selections. The church is in downtown Fayetteville across the street from the old Fayette County Courthouse.
Divorce Care starts in January at PTCUMC
DivorceCare is a weekly seminar and support group for people who are separated or divorced. It’s a place where they can hear valuable information about ways to heal from the hurt of divorce. The new session will begin on Jan. 11 and will meet from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. weekly on Wednesday evenings at Peachtree City United Methodist Church, 225 Robinson Rd. Sessions will be held in Room 300. Leave toys, food, clothing at CCC
Community Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) 349 Kenwood Rd., Fayetteville, is a drop off point for Toys for Tots, non-perishable food and paper goods for Fayette Samaritans and is collecting coats and sweaters for the needy. Donors are asked to call in advance (770-460-9745) before dropping off any items to the church.
Rainbow groups forming at Holy Trinity
Rainbows is a program that fosters emotional healing for children and teens who are grieving a loss due to a death, divorce, deployment, or other emotional trauma. Rainbow Groups are now forming and sessions will begin in January, 2012 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Peachtree City.
