Mrs. Helen Lorene Chitwood, of Peachtree City, passed away on Oct. 9, 2011, at the age of 90.
Mrs. Chitwood is described as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who always made people feel welcome in her home. She was always pleasant to be around and never had anything bad to say about anyone, except when the Braves or Falcons did something she didn’t like. She was an avid sports fan and supporter who never missed one of her children’s games or activities and could sometimes be heard cheering down the street when her favorite teams were playing on the television.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Embree Harding Chitwood Sr., and a daughter Lisa Gail Chitwood.
She is survived by her children; Embree Harding Chitwood Jr., and his wife Lanelle of Sky Valley, Linda Louise Hanson and her husband James of Fayetteville, Victoria Sue Pittman and her husband Douglas of Forest Park, Daniel Lee Chitwood and his wife Linda of Flowery Branch; 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville. Reverend Glen Stringham will officiate. Interment will take place at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
