Dr. Mona MacDonald, a resident of Fayetteville, recently attended a garden party at Buckingham Palace in London, England, by invitation of Her Majesty, tThe Queen.
Dr. MacDonald was invited, along with her daughter, Zena Martin, who is a dual American-British citizen, living in London, for their philanthropic work in both the United States and United Kingdom.
Dr. MacDonald is the founder and President Emerita of the Greater Atlanta Colorful Arts Society, Inc. (http://colorfularts.org/) and founder of The Mona MacDonald Foundation for the Arts.
Garden party hats and dresses were required, and Her Majesty was resplendent in green. The tea and treats, such as Dundee Cake, Royal Truffles, salmon salad and cucumber tea sandwiches, were delectable.
Commenting on her attendance, Dr. MacDonald said, “Receiving such a coveted invitation from Buckingham Palace, and being able to attend with my daughter, definitely qualifies as a ‘pinch me moment’ in my life! I will carry the memories with me, forever.”
