Tea Party Republicans see the crisis as the government employs too many people. American corporations are making higher profits by not employing Americans but cheaper overseas labor, now their consumers.
Our government needs to stop playing chicken and start identifying and preparing for tomorrow’s needs and prep those American employees today. Taxes have funded medical and scientific discoveries that are not being made today by Americans. Alternative and/or more efficient energy products have long ago been embraced by China, Germany, and other countries. Years ago they started making solar panels, windmills and reliable, more fuel-efficient cars that our technology made possible.
We, meanwhile, created the illusion of prosperity by replacing good paying manufacturing jobs with temporary finance and construction jobs fueled by the belief that the free market does not need unnecessary government regulations and thus oversight. Boom and Bust is the under-regulated free market correcting itself. Wall Street has bounced back. Americans haven’t because we ourselves don’t need or buy American made products.
When are we going to focus on what Americans can create and profit from selling to others to balance what we buy from their cheaper labor costs and natural resources?
While Microsoft and other high tech companies employ some well-paid Simi Valley workers, the more numerous manufacturing jobs go to China.
As consumers we love lower prices but that means we must identify and replace today’s outsourced better paying jobs. Or are you happy to take over the migrant workers’ jobs in the fields?
Quit playing politics and start focusing on identifying tomorrow’s needs and help create those jobs so we can all get back to work and pay off our debts.
