Update – Nov. 20: A criminal investigation is underway following the hit and run death of a Fayetteville man on Nov. 19 on North Jeff Davis Drive in Fayetteville.
The Fayetteville Police Department has launched a criminal hit and run investigation after 63-year-old Fayetteville resident Sherlock McCall was struck and killed by a motorist Tuesday night, Nov. 19, on North Jeff Davis Drive near the Jefferson Avenue intersection, according to Fayetteville Police Department spokesperson Ann Marie Burdett.
Burdett said McCall was apparently crossing North Jeff Davis Drive on foot around 9 p.m. Tuesday when he was hit by the vehicle. McCall was transported to an area hospital where he was declared deceased. His next of kin have been notified.
After an extensive traffic investigation, police have determined that this incident is a criminal case of hit and run, and a person of interest has been determined, said Burdett.

The incident took place around 9 p.m. as the adult male pedestrian was apparently crossing the road. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was declared deceased, Burdett said.
