Season Ten American Idol Winner and rising country music star Scotty McCreery is coming to Fayetteville on Friday, May 10, to kick off the Heritage Volkswagen South Atlanta Concert Series at Zac Brown’s Southern Ground Amphitheater.

The booming baritone made history in 2011 as the youngest male artist of any genre to have his debut album enter at number one on the Billboard Top 200 Chart. “Clear as Day” was certified Platinum for sales of one million units in just 13 weeks and became the best-selling solo album released by a country artist that year.

The singles “I Love You This Big” and “The Trouble with Girls” were also certified Platinum. McCreery won the New Artist of the Year award at both the Academy of Country Music Awards and the American Country Awards, and he also received the CMT Award for Breakthrough Video of the Year for “The Trouble with Girls.”

McCreery went Platinum again last year with “Five More Minutes” from the album “Seasons Change.” In March 2019, “This Is It,” his second release from that same album, was certified Gold after spending two weeks in country music’s number-one spot.

McCreery will take the amphitheater stage at 9 p.m. Friday after opening act Walker Montgomery gets the crowd warmed up at 8. And yes, Walker Montgomery is the son of country music legend John Michael Montgomery.

Gates open at 7. Visit SouthernGroundAmp.com for tickets and more information about the Heritage Volkswagen South Atlanta Concert Series.
