Fayette County E-911 has a new director. Longtime E-911 employee Katye Vogt, who served as interim director since November, was appointed as director on Feb. 1.
Fayette County Administrator Steve Rapson said the interview panel completed the interview process on Jan. 30.
“Six applicants were interviewed over a two-day period, with two of those being external and four internal,” said Rapson. “After assessing all the candidates, it was the unanimous consensus of the interview panel that Katye Vogt be offered the position. Katye has done a great job serving as interim director since early November.”
Rapson said Vogt has served in several positions at the E-911 center since 1992, adding that her experience at the center will serve her well in the new position.
“We are extremely grateful to have Katye joining the Fayette County senior management team. Katye has exactly the type of operational and technical experience needed for our emergency operations,” said Rapson.
The interview panel consisted of Rapson, Human Resources Director Lewis Patterson, Chief Marshal Harold Myers, Fayette County Sheriff Major Michelle Walker, Fayetteville Fire Chief Alan Jones and Peachtree City Police Chief Janet Moon.
Vogt was appointed as interim director after the resignation under fire of Bernard “Buster” Brown in October following several months of controversy involving accusations of some former employees that Brown was verbally abusive.
