Edmund Lawrence “Larry” Zernach, age 81, of Peachtree City passed away peacefully on July 28, 2018, at Southwest Christian Care Hospice. Larry was born on April 27, 1937 in Milan, Ind. to the late Edmund Louis and Sarah (Ohlmansiek) Zernach.
A 1959 graduate of Purdue University, Larry pursued his passion for forestry and forest resources management from Indiana to Idaho, Wisconsin, Texas, back to Wisconsin, and finally to Peachtree City, where he retired from Georgia- Pacific in 1996. During his time in Wisconsin, he married his wife of 56 years, Norma Jean “Jane” Anderson, on June 2, 1962. He also served his country in the U.S. Army at Fort Gordon in Augusta, Ga. from 1962-1964.
Larry was a people-person who never met a stranger. Caring, truthful, and generous, he was a man of faith and integrity. He was an avid fan of baseball, football, golf, and especially basketball. Larry was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and St. Vincent de Paul in Peachtree City.
Survivors are wife Jane and daughter Lori (Bob) Burgess of Peachtree City; son Steve (Kathy) of Tomahawk, Wis.; son Gary (Bridget) of Cumming, Ga.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The funeral service for Larry Zernach will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, 200 Robinson Road, Peachtree City, Ga. 30269.
