Lt. Col. (Ret) Joseph “Joe” Louis Butel, Jr., 71, of Fayetteville, passed away on March 15, 2018.
He was born in Paola, Kan. on September 22, 1946 to the late Joseph and Raylene Butel. He proudly served his country for 23 years in the United States Army and was the recipient of the Soldiers Medal, Bronze Star Medal, and Purple Heart Medal.
Joe is survived by his sons, Billy (Natashia) Butel and Brian Butel; his daughters, Bridget Butel and Lisa Fredrickson, his brothers, John and Eugene Butel; his sisters, Carolyn Parkins, Cathy Hughey and Christine LaFond; seven grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a Graveside Military Service in Kansas at a later date.
