Herman Hoverter Egner died peacefully at home in Peachtree City, Ga. on January 23, 2018 where he had moved ten years ago to be close to family.
Born in Philadelphia on April 22, 1929 to Herman Major Egner and Lillian Hoverter Egner, he graduated from Bartram High School in 1947 and attended Drexel University for both his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Business Administration. He lived in West Chester, Pa. for over 50 years and enjoyed a career with the E.I. DuPont Company in Wilmington, Del. for 35 years in Employee Benefits for the Photo Products division.
Married in 1952 to Eleanor Ruth Binger, they had three daughters: Deborah Condon (Benjamin), Linda Reynolds, and Carolyn Grant (Gary). There are seven grandchildren: Jeffrey Condon (Elizabeth), David Condon (Lauren), Michael Condon (Jessica), Jessica Reynolds Prophitt (Lee), Christopher Reynolds (Jayne), Alexander Grant and Steven Grant. There are nine great-grandchildren. Herm also leaves a brother Thomas Egner (Ann), niece Susan Etzweiler (Chuck), nephew Thomas (Gus) Egner (Christina) and cousin Jeff Egner (Sherron).
Herman was a devoted volunteer at the Chester County hospital when he lived in West Chester and for the Piedmont Fayette Hospital when he lived in Peachtree City.
