Heading south for the winter and with a recent stop-over was a large number of sandhill cranes spotted on Lake Peachtree. After nearly disappearing from their midwestern U.S. flyovers, the 4-foot-long gray birds with a wingspan of up to 7 feet form flocks of over 10,000 cranes.
