Thongkum Satung Mathis, known to friends and family as “Won,” died on November 2, 2017 in Peachtree City, Ga., after a lengthy battle with cancer. She fought the disease with courage, dignity, and a fierce sense of independence. She is survived by her children Nicholas Mathis, Nathan Mathis, and, her sister Nongnuch Srisiri.
Won was born in Chonburi, Thailand on August 15, 1951. She found her way to the United States through marriage, and worked in a variety of careers throughout her life including retail, food service, and manufacturing. She was always regarded as a faithful and trusted employee. She was gifted at making friends and celebrated many travels throughout her life, living in many states, and journeying back to Thailand in recent years to see her family. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
