Robert H. Stone, 91, of Fayetteville, died November 30, 2010.
Mr. Stone was born to Judge and Artie Stone in Cullman County, AL on April 26, 1919. He married his love, Laurlene “Billie” Burgett, daughter of Z.D. and Vera Burgett, on December 27, 1938 and they were married for 72 years. He proudly served his country as a WWII vet, was a Mason for 54 years, as well as a member of Lisbon Baptist Church. In 1952 he moved his family to Fayetteville from Guntersville, AL. He retired from the Fayette County Board of Education as a mail carrier and a bus driver.
Mr. Stone is survived by his wife; three children, Jean & Bobby Kerlin, Harold & Cecilia Stone, and Wayne & Cile Stone; eight grandchildren, Julie Kerlin Self, Jackie & Gregg Aikin, Jennifer Kerlin Rogers, Joanna Kerlin, all of Fayetteville, Scott & Julia Stone of Sharpsburg, Tracey & Ken Hobbs of Loganville, Missy & Vladi Martinez of Fayetteville, Michelle & Matt Vining of Richmond Hill, GA; sixteen great-grandchildren; brother, Cecil & Margaret Stone of Leeds, AL; sisters-in-law Vida Stone and Ivylyn Stone both of Alabama.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 3, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Lisbon Baptist Church with Rev. Carlton Swicegood and Dr. Randall Harris officiating. Burial will follow at the church. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 2, 2010 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville.
