Dolores (Dee) Moreland, age 80, of Brooks, Ga., passed away on May 28, 2017 from a long battle of Alzheimer’s disease. She was born on December 21, 1936 in Atlanta, Ga. to the late Marvin and Mary Sexton Waits.
Ms. Dee, as she was lovingly known, had been a resident of Somerby in Peachtree City since October 2014. Dee loved sports, music, and giving of her time and talent, which was serving others. She went to work for The Georgia Savings Bank and Trust Company right out of high school. Although there were many mergers and acquisitions along the way, she retired from the banking industry in which she started after 44 years, with what is now known as Wells Fargo. Dee volunteered at Southwest Christian Hospice for 30 years in their Patient and Respite Care unit. She will always be remembered by all who came into contact with her for her kindness and loving servant spirit.
Dee is survived by her husband, Victor Moreland; brothers, Richard Waits (Joan) and Fred Waits (Jane); daughters, Cindy Scurry and Sandee Carroll; five grandchildren, Brooke Martin (Titus), Carter Scurry (Julie), Zach Scurry (Madison), Trey Carroll, and Colton Scurry; two great- grandchildren, Ty and Maddie Martin; two step-daughters, and four step-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at Legacy Christian Church, 1150 Rockaway Rd., Senoia, Ga. on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 2 p.m., with Pastor Roy Roberson officiating. Burial will follow at Brooks Memorial Gardens, Brooks, Ga. The family will receive friends and family from 12 – 2 p.m. prior to the service at Legacy Christian Church.
