The Peachtree City Rowing Club has established itself as a competitive rowing club not only in the Atlanta area. but throughout the Southeast. Earlier this spring, the club hosted two regattas at Lake McIntosh with the inaugural Lake McIntosh Sprints bringing more than 281 rowers and 400 spectators to Peachtree City.

The club has travelled to regattas in Chattanooga, Augusta, Gainesville and Clemson to compete against rowing programs from the east coast and midwest while rowing in front of several thousand rowers and spectators. Somewhat unprecedented in the rowing community, crews from PTCRC have placed first, second or third in many of their events while competing against established and much larger rowing programs.

The PTCRC Board of Directors has launched their inaugural fundraising initiative in an effort to maintain this momentum. According to Board President Quinton Gradek, “One of the primary objectives of our club is to provide an opportunity for our members to compete with other rowing clubs in terms of equipment and training opportunities, and to allow as diverse an audience as possible to access the sport of rowing. In an effort to do so, the board has established an exciting sponsorship program for individuals, civic clubs, businesses and industries within the community and surrounding area.”

Partnering with the Fayette County Board of Commissioners, the Fayette County Water Department and the Fayette County Parks and Recreation Department, PTCRC is developing a first-class rowing operation within Lake McIntosh Park and is offering instructional and competitive rowing programs throughout the year. Working with the Peachtree City Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, the club’s facility is also becoming known as a destination training facility for club, high school and collegiate rowing teams throughout the east coast.

The board has established a number of sponsorship opportunities, including induction into the inaugural “Founders Club” and naming rights for regattas, racing shells, oars, the coach’s launch and other equipment. Donations can also be made in honor and/ or memory of someone. Sponsor names will be displayed at the club’s facility, on the club’s website and social media pages, and on advertising and marketing material as well as on banners that will be taken to each regatta.
