Piedmont Fayette Hospital announced Feb. 21 that it has received the Healthgrades 2017 America’s 50 Best Hospitals Award.

This is the third consecutive year that Piedmont Fayette has received this award. The distinction makes Piedmont Fayette among the top one percent of more than 4,500 hospitals nationwide for its consistent, year-over-year superior clinical performance as measured by Healthgrades, the leading online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals.

“We strive to consistently deliver the highest quality, compassionate care to our patients,” said Piedmont Fayette CEO Michael Burnett. “This award recognizes the outstanding clinical quality we provide, as well as the safe environment that we provide. It is a recognition that is made possible by the incredible work of our physicians, nurses, staff members and volunteers every day.”

The 50 recipients of the America’s 50 Best Hospitals Award are distinguished for overall clinical excellence across a broad spectrum of care.

During the 2017 study period (2013-2015), these hospitals showed superior performance in clinical outcomes for patients in the Medicare population across at least 21 of 32 most common inpatient conditions and procedures — as measured by objective performance data (risk-adjusted mortality and in-hospital complications).

“Our analysis shows that there is tremendous variation in clinical outcomes across hospitals, so we commend the recipients of the America’s 50 Best Hospitals Award for delivering exceptional quality care to their patients,” said Brad Bowman, chief medical officer, Healthgrades. “As consumers take a more active role in managing their own health, they can have confidence that hospitals that have achieved the America’s 50 Best Hospitals Award stand above the rest.”

Piedmont Fayette was named the 2016 Large Hospital of the Year by the Georgia Alliance of Community Hospitals.

They recently earned the 2017 Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence from Healthgrades and they have also received the Women’s Health Excellence Award (2013-2015), America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Critical Care Award (2015-2016), Critical Care Excellence Award (2015-2017), Stroke Care Excellence Award (2014-2017), Joint Replacement Excellence Award (2012-2015) and Pulmonary Care Excellence Award (2009-2015), from Healthgrades as well.

“Our purpose at Piedmont is to make a positive difference in every life we touch,” said Burnett. “These recognitions are reflective of the positive difference that our team provides to our patients each day.”
