Carl A. Friedrich, of Peachtree City, died July 14, 2016. He was born in Newark, New Jersey in 1946 to the late Carl August Friedrich and the late June Thierolf Friedrich.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1964-1967 where he was an aviation structural mechanic (Hydraulic). He graduated the Naval Aviation Structural Mechanics School, and went on to attend Bloomfield Technical School and Teterboro School of Aeronautics. While in the Navy, Mr. Friedrich received the National Defense Service Medal and at the time of his discharge he was Petty Officer 2nd Class.

Carl proudly served Eastern Airlines as aircraft mechanic, lead, foreman, and satellite maintenance manager – in Newark 1969-1986 and in Atlanta 1986-1991. With Eastern’s demise and enormous competition for Aircraft Maintenance positions, he obtained his Associates Degree in Automotive Technology from Atlanta Area Technical School in 1992 – where he graduated with honors as the class valedictorian. He also won the 1992 Civitan Club of Atlanta Award for Outstanding Achievement in Vocational Education.

Carl returned to aviation in 1992 with Kiwi Int’l Airlines, first in Newark 1992-1994, then in Atlanta 1994-1996. On a floating basis he worked with AirTran, AeroMexico and Ogden aviation from 1996-1998, before joining Federal Express (now FedEx) in 1998. He retired in 2010, and spent his retired years golfing, maintaining his home, and travelling with his life’s love, Patricia.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Gallucci Friedrich; son, Carl August Friedrich, II and his wife, Marisa of Oyster Bay, N.Y.; grandchildren, Valentina, Gabriella, Giulianna, Nicoletta, and Giancarlo.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 in the chapel of Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home in Peachtree City, Ga. The interment was held at Holly Hill Memorial Park in Fairburn, Ga. at 12:30 p.m., with military honors.

The family received friends on Monday, July 18 from 6-8 p.m. at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home, Peachtree City, Ga.
