The Coweta County Commission on March 1 approved rezoning requests for a minor shopping center on Ga. Highway 34 and Lora Smith Road and two industrial projects.
Commissioners unanimously approved a rezoning request for 3.82 acres on the southeast corner of Hwy. 34 and Lora Smith Road. The approval resulted in having the RC (rural conservation) zoning changed to C-6 (minor shopping center).
Zoning Administrator Angela White said the conceptual site plan incorporates a shopping development proposing retail services and shopping with the potential of a fast foot establishment. The total square footage proposed incorporates approximately 9,000 sq. ft. of development.
Another unanimous approval was given to a rezoning request for 30.36 acres on the southeast corner of Raymond Hill Road and Ga. Highway 154 near Interstate 85.
Approved for LM (light industrial) from RC zoning, the conceptual site plan incorporates an office/warehouse development referred to as the Northpoint Business Center.
According to the plan, there are seven office/warehouse structures shown with assorted square footage of 14,400sq. ft., 16,800 sq. ft. and 19,200 sq. ft. The development also includes a 3,600 sq. ft. maintenance shop to provide support for the business center. The total square footage proposed incorporates approximately 123,600 sq. ft. of development, said White.
A third rezoning request was for an 11.04-acre site at Herring Road and the Amlajack Way Extension in the Shenandoah Industrial Park. Commissioners approved the zoning change from RC to M (industrial).
The rezoning request concerned the property adjacent to Delavan Automotive to provide a staging area for the tractor-trailers to be parked prior to and after assembly work has been done within the existing plant.
