I just wanted to publicly thank Cajen Rhodes and Priscilla Peak for their assistance with the Fayette County Championship this year.
They both went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure our Fayette County high school swimmers had one last opportunity to make a state time cut and to compete in the Fayette County Championship prior to the state meet.
Unfortunately, the winter weather on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016, resulted in the cancellation of the championship meet that was to be held at the Steve Lundquist Aquatic Center. Due to other programs having already scheduled both of their pools, the Aquatic Center could not reschedule our meet until past the state deadline entry time.
Cajen and Priscilla graciously allowed us to hold the meet at Kedron and were very helpful in making sure the meet went as smoothly as possible. They made themselves available to me all weekend by phone in order to assist me in the planning of the meet for Jan. 26.
They cancelled numerous classes and other uses of the pool so our high school swimmers could have their meet. They cleared extraneous pool equipment from the deck to make more space available for the teams, allowed us to use the back pool area so the swimmers could warm-up/cool down for their swims during the meet, set up chairs in a viewing area for the senior parents, and met with me the day before at my convenience to make sure the meet was well-executed.
No other pool in the surrounding areas was willing to do all of this for us. So again, I’d like to say a big thank you to Cajen, Priscilla, and all the staff at Kedron. You are a class act.
