The Fayette County Board of Commissioners and members of the Public Arts Committee congratulated the winners of the Local Arts Award at the Nov. 12 BOC meeting.
The purpose of the Local Public Art Awards is to recognize groups or individuals who promote public art in Fayette County in the categories of Educator, Patron, Civic and Performing Art.
The committee seeks to honor individuals from the community (artists, parents, funders, teachers and leaders of community or arts organizations, etc.) who demonstrate passion and leadership through public art.
The recipients of the 2015 Local Public Art Awards are Lina Martin (volunteer at Peeples Elementary) and the Peeples Cultural Arts Week Committee for the Arts Civic Award; Kathleen Senger (Peachtree City Civic Ballet Company) for the Performing Arts Award; and Lori Thomas (Fayette County High School) for the Arts Educator Award.
