Several members of the youth group from Rolling Hills Baptist Church recently descended upon five local neighborhoods to collect food in support of needy families in Fayette and Coweta Counties.
All the food collected was donated to the Real Life Center in Peachtree City to stock their food pantry.
The food drive took place over two Mondays; the first to distribute flyers and donation bags, and the second to collect the filled bags.
The food drive was part of Rolling Hills’ Monday Mission program, a youth summer vacation program which is geared toward “serving others as an expression of God’s love toward them.”
According to senior pastor Frank Mercer, Monday Missions is “an opportunity to put “Monday feet” to Sunday’s words.”
The Real Life Center is a non-profit organization that exists to help individuals and families from all walks of life who are facing unanticipated challenges by giving them a means to cope with the financial, emotional, and spiritual hardships of life.
On average, the Real Life Center distributes over 70,000 pounds of food items every year to families in Fayette County.
