As part of the community restoration of historic Hopeful Church in Fayette County, the church is getting a new hand-split shake roof installed by Ellison Roofing.

More than 100 years have passed since the last wood shingle roof was seen on the church, which was established in 1825.

Hopeful Church and Cemetery will be rededicated on Saturday, May 2, at 11 a.m.  The community, government officials and dignitaries have been invited. Everyone is welcome.

Revolutionary and Civil War re-enactors are scheduled to participate.
