British pianist Stephen Hough returns to Spivey Hall on March 29 at 3 p.m.

Named by “The Economist” as one of 20 Living Polymaths (a person of wide-ranging knowledge or learning), Hough is a rare renaissance man.

During a long and distinguished career as one of the world’s leading concert pianists, he has also excelled as a writer and composer. Hough combines an exceptional facility and tonal palette with a uniquely inquisitive musical personality, and his musical achievements have resulted in many awards and accolades for his concerts and a discography of more than 50 recordings.

“A virtuoso who begins where others leave off,” according to “The Guardian.”

In his much-anticipated return to Spivey, Hough will perform works by Claude Debussy – Estampes, La plus que lente, Children’s Corner;  L’isle joyeuse – interwoven with Frédéric Chopin’s magnificent
Ballades Nos. 1 – 4.

Audio Web Notes providing detailed information about the music and the composers are available now at www.spivey.org.

Tickets are priced at $60 (with discounts for subscribers, groups, students and Georgia educators), and are available for purchase now.
